After 60 years in service to communities throughout Los Angeles, Volunteer Center of Los Angeles will be undergoing some changes in the coming weeks. With a new name – Volunteer Los Angeles – a new website, and a renewed vision on service and impact, Volunteer Los Angeles will be moving forward in exciting fashion.
VCLA to join with Mission Serve for this year’s Service to Veterans Project
On Veteran’s Day, VCLA will be joining forces with Mission Serve to carry out a service project at the Veteran’s Care Facility in Westwood (VA campus). Veterans and active duty military personnel will join with employ volunteers from Bank of American to beautify the VCF by planting flowers in the surrounding gardens, paining and doing some light maintenance work.
VCLA receives Regional Lead grant from CaliforniaVolunteers
VCLA has been chosen to represent Cal EMA’s Southern Administrative Region and provide pre- and post-disaster leadership to volunteer centers in this region. VCLA will be providing regional trainings and in-person technical support site visits, as well as facilitating a network of mutual assistance between the volunteer centers in the region.
LA Remembers Coalition sees tremendous impact on 9/11, plans to continue forward
On the weekend of 9/11, a diverse coalition of government, nonprofits and businesses committed to service and the community of Los Angeles carried out a series of impactful volunteer projects throughout Los Angeles.
